Dr. Megan Marsh is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in pediatric neuropsychological assessment.  She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Connecticut and earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Suffolk University in Boston, MA.  Dr. Marsh completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Florida Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL and post-doctoral fellowship at the NYU Comprehensive Epilepsy Center in New York, NY.  She has received training in accordance with the Houston Guidelines for practice and is eligible for board certification in Clinical Neuropsychology.

In addition to her graduate training, Dr. Marsh has been trained in the Lindamood-Bell academic instruction programs for reading, comprehension, and math as she worked as an instructor and consultant for Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes in Stamford, CT and Norwell, MA for over five years.

A longtime resident and graduate of South Windsor Public Schools, Dr. Marsh returned to South Windsor in 2012 with her husband and their three young children.

Dr. Marsh's Philosophy

As a former student of Dr. Edith Kaplan, Dr. Marsh has had extensive training in the Boston Process Approach to neuropsychological test interpretation.  This approach can offer greater understanding and insight regarding diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Rather than focusing solely on test scores and diagnoses, qualitative analyses and the examination of errors can provide a deep understanding of the underlying processes that are involved in observed behaviors.  Because individuals do not function in isolation, it is essential to view the individual as a component of a dynamic and evolving system.  Dr. Marsh evaluates the individual in a comprehensive manner, as it is essential to incorporate family, school, or other social systems in the assessment and therapeutic process.  As such, Dr. Marsh is often in collaboration with a number of the individual’s providers (i.e., medical, academic, social) and often conducts classroom observations as a part of the evaluation.

With regard to therapeutic approaches, Dr. Marsh has been trained in a number of theoretical orientations.  She often applies action-oriented therapies, such as Behavioral and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies (CBT) when working with children and their families.  While a cognitive approach may be most beneficial for some individuals, behavioral therapy may be more appropriate for others (e.g., children, individuals with autism, or those who want to make specific behavioral changes).  Developing social skills or coping strategies help children toward positive behavioral change.  In all cases, motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, and awareness are all powerful components of the process.

 “Sensitive, empathic, and creative.”

“Expressing a desire to learn from clients, learn new approaches, and thinking outside the box.”

These are words that others have used to describe Dr. Marsh’s clinical approach.  Dr. Marsh focuses on client strengths, resiliency, and empowerment, helping them to become their own critically aware advocates.
